The first month of the new year 2024 kicked off with a variety of pleasant new Soul Projects. Initially it felt like a really quiet month in terms of New Soul Releases but after research I found that there were more dope new Albums/EPs than I originally thought. One of the projects is new but not really new, and it's currently exclusively on bandcamp. It's actually a reissue from the Anderson, Indiana based Soul Group "Truth & Devotion", taken from the original masters out of the Tyscot Records vaults & restored for the first time since 1981, Truth & Devotion reissues their highly praised gospel contemporary classic album "Heaven At Last". This album has been recently rediscovered by modern day Hip Hop & R&B producers through it's title track & has been sampled in records from artists like Larry June, Joey Bada$$, etc. Although this is a reissue album, I just had to put it at the top of my new album list. In January we also got Brand New Albums from the talented Songstress "Sy Smith" with her long awaited follow up "Until We Meet Again", dope new music from Film Director/Singer, Songwriter "Jeymes Samuel" along with Various Artists for "The Book of Clarence: The Motion Picture Soundtrack". Also we got a beat remixed project from Producers "Ian Wallace" and "OP!" of select Jill Scott tracks. Dope New Albums from Vocalist "Ona K", Trumpetest "Keyon Harrold", Singers "Jonas, Kali Uchis, Amahla and more. Check out my favorite Soul Project selections in rank order below for January 2024.
