Hip Hop Album/EP of the Week (Sept 23 - Sept 29, 2022)

This New EP from East London Emcee "Isatta Sheriff" and Bologna based Producer "Koralle" entitled "Eat The Kiwi Skin" is a thoughtful new EP with lots of melody and groovy vibes. Isatta Sheriff shines lyrically with rhymes about staying true to self, striving towards achievement, reminiscing of good times (90s Hip Hop, RnB), holding on to dreams, avoiding useless communication, the power and impact of Black Voices in history, entertainment and more. What's really dope about this 6 track EP is the classy musical quality it displays! It's soulful, it's rhythmic, the production is pleasingly rich provided by Koralle. The vocalist features by artists like Lex Armor, Mercy's Cartel, Shumba Youth and Awate really help to compliment the melodies on each track, but it's the smooth flows, thoughtful lyrics and awesome moments of singing by "Isatta" that really help this project to stand out. It's a very melodic album, so much that it's easy to lose track of some of what's being said lyrically. When considering the significance of the EP Title "Eat the Kiwi Skin", Isatta explains in the bandcamp description that the

“The skin is the most nutritious part of the fruit and you have to digest the roughness (harshness) to get the most nurishment.“ the outspoken Eastender explains. “When you do things differently, some people get it and some don’t. Some join in and some just comment from the sidelines. It might not be the easiest (or tastiest) thing to hear but it's necessary. This could be interpreted in a music and life sense."

Isatta indeed has her own unique style and flavor as an Emcee, her East London accent is certainly strong but she's clearly talented and skilled as a lyricist/artist. When you get a chance, take a listen to this new EP from "Isatta Sherrif" and "Koralle" entitled "Eat the Kiwi Skin" now available on bandcamp and dsps. The bandcamp version also has the instrumentals to the vocal tracks. Enjoy!
