Okay so yeah I know I'm a bit late with this post, pardon it was a busy weekend and the Album or the Week took some really careful listening to get to, but my selection for Best Hip Hop single of the week certainly goes to Native DMV Emcee, Producer "Oddisee" for his new single "Hard To Tell" on the label Outernotelabel , which is one of the first singles from long anticipated next album entitled "To What's End" due for release date on January 20th, 2023. Hard To Tell is soulful and thoughtful. A song reflecting on previous relationships/experiences and the wisdom he's gained as he's grown as an individual. The music is richly soulful, with the violin instrument prominent in the production. The hook has a warm vocal (that I think is actually Oddisee singing) however the vocals are subtle and blends right in with the vibe of the production. This was a really refreshing track to hear from Oddisee. It's exactly the kind of quality sound we've become accustomed to getting from him. He also produced the track.
